Kohima (Nagaland), June 22, 2021: A book 100 years of Jainism in Nagaland, a journey from 1885 to 1985 was released online on June 15 by the Kohima Jain Temple Committee in the virtual presence of president Pawan Kumar Sethi and secretary Jayant Sethi.
According to a press release on Tuesday, the Kohima Jain temple, which was built in 1920, has completed 100 years in 2020. It also stated that Jainism has completed 135 years in Nagaland. In the 1880s Hardeo and Hiralal Sethi came to Kohima from Chhapra in Rajasthan, set up their business and made Nagaland their home, it said.
During the 2nd world war when the Japanese invaded India, their families shifted their base to Dimapur and continued ever since. These families have continued to look after the Jain temple in Kohima since the past 100 years Pawan Kumar Sethi as the president of the Kohima Jain Temple, the release stated. – News & Image Courtesy: The Morung Express
