Somnathpur

    Somnathpur / Somanathapura (ಸೋಮನಾಥಪುರ) is a town located 35 km from Mysore, Karnataka State, India. Somanathapura is famous for the Keshava templeby Somanatha, a Dandanayaka (commander) in 1268 CE under Hoysala Empire King Narasimha III, when the Hoysalas were the major power in South India.

    Parshwanath Idol at Somnathpur – In the premises of this temple in one of the corners a few ruined idols are preserved. Among these is found the 4 feet high ruined idol of Lord Parshwanath in Kayotsarga (standing) posture.
