London (United Kingdom) February 22, 2012: A man from Golders Green was invited to show the Queen some of the sacred treasures belonging to the Jain religion as part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Dr Natubhai Shah was chosen by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, to introduce Her Majesty to the faith and its consecrated artefacts.

Dr Shah, who is chair of the Jain Network, unveiled the Kalpa Sutra, a text which is worshipped during Paryushana, the most sacred days in the Jain calendar. It details subjects such as philosophy, devotional practices, cosmology, sciences and mathematics.

Other representatives from faith groups including Christianity, Baha’i, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh and Zoroastrian also attended the event last Wednesday. – News & Image Courtesy: Natalie O’Neill (times-series.co.uk)
