Speaking after performing guddali puja to the Yatrinivas, lodging facility, being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore he said not only people of Jain community, but people of all the other communities too are attracted to Kanakagiri.
The State tourism department has decided to improve Kanakagiri as a major tourism spot. Along with the yatrinivas, guest house and toilets will also be constructed.
An estimation is being made and a proposal has been submitted for the construction of Sabha Bhavan, Library, drinking water and other basic amenities at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore, he explained.
The major hurdles on the repair works on Bharachukki has been sorted out and the road connecting Himavad Gopalaswamy hills constructed at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore is being developed.
Kanakagiri Bhuvanakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji who spoke on the occasion said tourists from state, neigbouring states and abroad visit the shrine. The lack of basic amenities is causing a lot of inconvenience to the devotees.
The details of the tourists visiting the place are being recorded and sent to the tourism department. It has also been decided to hold international jain convention next year, he added.
