History – It is mentioned that this was the land of penance of many Jain ascetics since third century A.D. hence called as Munigiri. There is a mention that the kings of the Chola dynasty and many other kings gave many gifts of land to this temple. This was a very rich and prosperous place till the 13th century A.D. A fair is held here every year from the seventh day to the 14th day of the bright half of the month of Falguna called as Teppotsava, where in the idol of the God is taken to a procession in water on a boat. In the compound of the temple at present we can find the temples of Bhagawan Mahavir Swami, Bhagawan Parshwanatha, Bhagawan Adinatha and Ambikadevi. We can find many books written in different languages, and many books written on palm-leaves in the library of the temple.
How to Reach – It is situated in the Karande village near Kanchipuram in the North Arcot district of Tamilnadu. The nearest railway station of Kanchipuram is at a distance of 15 kilometers from Munigiri.
Main Deity – Gold colored idol of Bhagawan Kunthunatha in the Padmasana posture.
