Dharmasthala (Dakshina District, Karnataka), February 18, 2019: With the offering of ‘Kumkumotsava’, ‘Kankana Visarjane’ and ‘Torana Visarjane’, the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Bahubali at Ratnagiri in Dharmasthala was completed on Monday evening.
Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade and his family members initiated the anointing ceremony with 1,008 kalashas.
As the statue of Bahubali took dierent hues – including yellow, purple and red–with each abhisheka, the people who had gathered were soaked in devotional fervour.
Various offerings
After ‘Jalabhisheka’, Srinivas Shetty and family from Belthangady offered ‘Ikshurasa Abhisheka’; Sunandadevi of Venur offered ‘Ksheerabhisheka’; Dharanendrayya of Kalasa offered ‘Kalkachoorna Abhisheka’; Shreshtha Jain of Bengaluru offered ‘Kashaya Abhisheka’; M S Mrityunjaya of Bengaluru offered ‘Kesari Abhisheka’; Ratnakar Jain of Mangaluru, Manmatha Kumar of Nellikaru, Sohal Lal Jain of Bengaluru and Pankaj Jain of Hubballi offered ‘Chathushkona Abhisheka’; Shashikiran Jain and Saroja Gunapal Jain offered ‘Chandana Abhisheka’.
Pushpadantasagar Muni Maharaj, delivering a discourse, said, “All of us should adopt the principles of non-violence, sacrifice and austerity of Bahubali in our lives.”
DKMUL sponsored 5,000 litres of buttermilk to the devotees. Chowgule of Belagavi and Jayasri of Horanadu sang Jain devotional songs.
