Ludhiana (Punjab), September 3, 2011: The eight-day-long fasting by Rama Jain of New Kitchlu Nagar ended on Friday and to make the day special, her friends, cousins and sisters-in-law turned up at her residence to extend their good wishes. Rama had observed fast as part of the Parv Paryushan festival, which lasts for eight days. Rama’s sister-in-law Neerja Jain especially came from Gurdev Nagar at 9am with fruits and dry fruits. Rama’s cousin Kusam Jain, who stays in the same area, also marked her presence while her another cousin, Kiran Jain, sent clove water for Rama through her daughter-in-law Ritu. Neerja explained that throughout these eight days, Rama just had water, so she is taking all care now while resuming her normal diet. Intake of clove water generates heat in the body, which is quite beneficial, she added.
Rama paid obeisance at a temple on Friday and then spent the day with her cousins and friends. After drinking clove water, Rama was made to sleep under normal room temperature in a quilt and then after one hour, she was given hot flavoured milk with kesar and dry fruits. After this, all friends gave shagun to Rama for performing this religious practice. – News Courtesy: Times News Network
