Veerapura

    History – The temple here was constructed arround 1928. The Jains in the village contribute to about 90% of its population. The idol of Mahaveera found here is made of white stone and has a smiling face. Apart from the idol of Mahaveera we can find the following idols: black coloured idol of bhagwan Chandranatha, idol of the chavisa tirthankara made out of panchaloha and the idol of Daraneendra Yaksha and Padmavathi Yakshi. in the front wall of the temple we can find an inscription of the period of the Vijayanagara king Harihara (14th century) that reveals some of the historical aspects.

    How to Reach – Veerapura is situated in the district of Dharwad and good buss facilities are availabe from Dharwad.

    Main Deity – Idol of Bhagwan Sri Vardhamana Mahavira in the padmasana posture.
