Shravanabelagola is at a distance of 51 Kms south-east of Hassan, the district centre. It is situated at a distance of 12 Km to the south from the Bangalore-Mangalore road (NH-48), 78 Kms from Halebidu, 89 Kms from Belur, 83 Kms from Mysore, 233 Kms from Mangalore, 17 Kms from Hirisave and 157 Kms from Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. It is well connected with State Highways and District roads.
All major roads to Shravanabelagola pass through Channarayapatna and as the traveller drives through this place, he observes a conspicuous hill a few miles to the south east bearing on its summit what appears at first sight to be a column, but which on drawing nearer proves to be a colossal statue in the human form. This striking and unusual object, the image of Gommateshwara which is visible for miles around marks the site of Shravanabelagola. The chief seat of Jains in South India, probably from the earliest authentic period of Indian history.
Approach Route From Bangalore – People starting from Bangalore can start their journey from Yeshwanthpur and pass through Nelamangala, Kunigal, Hirisave and Shravalabelagola. On reaching Hirisave they will have to take a left turn to move towards Shravanabelagola. The road from Bangalore to Hirisave is part of the national highway that connects Bangalore and Mangalore.
Approach Routes From Mysore – There are three different routes to Shravanabelagola from Mysore they are as below:
- Mysore – Srirangapatna – Pandavapura – K.R.Pet – (Take a right turn at a circle in K.R.Pet and pass through the K.R.Pet bus stand) – Marenahalli (Hariyaladammana Gudi – this is a small village) – Dammaningala (this is a small village) – Shravanabelagola. TOTAL DISTANCE – 78 Kms.
- Mysore – Srirangapatna – Pandavapura – K.R.Pet – Kikkeri – (Take a right turn at a circle in Kikkeri) – Shravanabelagola. TOTAL DISTANCE – 84 Kms.

Mysore – Srirangapatna – Pandavapura – K.R.Pet – Kikkeri – Channarayapattana – Shravanabelagola. TOTAL DISTANCE – 90 Kms.
Approach Route from Hassan – Hassan – Shanthigrama – Channarayapatna – Shravalabeoagola. TOTAL DISTANCE – 51 KMS.
Train Facilities – The train facilities were provided during the Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsava 2006. However, due lack of passengers this has been stopped for the time being. Plans are under way to connect Shravanabelagola with the major junctions such as Arasikere and Bangalore. The visitors and pilgrims can reach Shravanabelagola through Arasikere and Bangalore through Channarayapatna.
Reach By Air – Bangalore and Mangalore are the two nearest destinations connected by Air. Bangalore is well connected with all the major cities of India and quite well connected with the globe. The airport at the port city Mangalore, is connected with some of the major cities of India.
